Why do I need this medicine?
Glycopyrronium bromide is used to treat excessive drooling in children.

This medicine may also be used together with other medicines to treat conditions caused by excessive acidity in your stomach such as ulcer.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Glycopyrronium bromide exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.

This medicine is available as a tablet or as an oral solution.

If you are taking an oral solution, shake the bottle well before you take it to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure out your prescribed dose.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your condition and response to the medicine.

Glycopyrronium bromide must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • urinary retention (unable to completely empty the bladder)
  • enlarged prostate
  • glaucoma (an increased pressure in the eye)
  • stomach problems e.g. blocked bowel or intestine, ulcerative colitis (an inflammation of the large intestine)
  • myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness disorder)
as Glycopyrronium bromide may not be suitable for you.

Do not take this medicine with solid oral form of Potassium chloride (medicine used to treat or prevent low potassium levels in the blood).
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • heart disease e.g. heart failure, irregular or fast heartbeat
  • high blood pressure
  • kidney disease
  • liver disease
  • thyroid disease
  • nerve problems causing weakness, numbness and pain
  • hiatal hernia (a condition when part of the stomach extends through the diaphragm)
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to the elderly. Elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.
What side effects could I experience?
Glycopyrronium bromide may cause drowsiness or blurred vision. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert or need to see clearly.

Other side effects include any of the following: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, diarrhoea, stomach pain, stuffy nose, nasal congestion and flushing.

Glycopyrronium bromide may also affect the ability of your body to adjust to temperature changes in the environment. Avoid exposure to very hot environment.

Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
  • rashes, breathlessness, swelling of the face, eyes or mouth
  • constipation
  • difficulty in passing urine
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Do not take Glycopyrronium bromide with solid oral form of Potassium chloride (medicine used to treat or prevent low potassium levels in the blood).

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
  • amantadine (medicine used to treat movement disorders)
  • disopyramide (medicine for irregular heartbeat)
  • medicines for mood disorders e.g. phenothiazine, clozapine, haloperidol
  • medicines for motion sickness or vomiting e.g. domperidone, metoclopramide
  • ketoconazole (medicine to treat fungal infection)
  • opioid analgesics (strong painkillers)
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Glycopyrronium bromide.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.

Avoid taking Glycopyrronium bromide together with high-fat foods as the effectiveness of this medicine may be reduced. Ask your doctor about the types of food you should avoid.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
